I started practicing Iyengar Yoga in 2004, having tried many different styles. I come from a ballet background and have always enjoyed focusing on the body. At University I studied Theatre and different forms of dance.
Iyengar Yoga is renowned for its precision and attention to detail. Iyengar Yoga gave me the focus I needed to connect with the body. When practicing individual poses, time is taken to correct and modify the posture. It is an ongoing exploration. I wanted others to experience the benefits of yoga and how it connects mind and body.
The benefits include, though are not limited to, creating an inner sense of space, improving posture and working within a structured practice rather than action without purpose. ‘Yoga is something you have to experience’.
After 9 years of practice in Kingston with Senior Teacher Judith Richards, I became a Level 1 Teacher in 2013. I have taught Iyengar Yoga in Surrey Adult Education Centres and at various Sports Centre.
In 2017, we moved to Horsham. Since then, I have been teaching in Cranleigh, Crawley, West Chiltington and Horsham.
