Iyengar Yoga is a method of yoga developed by B.K.S. Iyengar. It is based around Hatha Yoga (yoga of effort), with key details and adjustments to align the body. It focuses very much on the positioning of the body. We don’t just ‘do’ the posture we ‘learn’ the posture. It enables anyone who practices to improve strength, health, flexibility and mental alertness. Classes generally start with simple poses and gradually move towards more advanced poses, ending with a period of relaxation and sometimes incorporating breathing techniques. If a posture can’t be achieved we look at using props; blocks and belts to gain a better understanding of working the body correctly.

All teachers are trained to a very high standard and are fully insured. The Iyengar Yoga certification Mark is a guarantee of excellence, clarity and depth of understanding.
